The chosen architecture I've chosen to play around with is ECS (Entity Component System), which essentially I've come to understand is that there are Entities, which I've only given IDs. My goal with this project / tech demo at this point in time is to generally take ASCII and see how far I can push it to look good and really stand out artistically from other games, as well as (at a later point) push how far good sound design and visual design can take an ASCII game in the immersion / atmosphere department. Personally I have the attention span of a 3 year old child with an iPad loaded with Ryan’s Toy Review videos when it comes to reading technicals without any reference as to what something actually looks like, so if you just want some pretty coloring book pictures to look at like me, then head down a little further and there’s some gifs of some Tile Placement and Chunk stuff. Since then I've been working on and off on a small tech demo of sorts, so for the next few weeks i’m going to kind of share what i’ve done and how i’ve done it in pieces, starting this week with my chosen way of going about ECS architecture, Tile Placement and editing, and a bit of how I’ve implemented Chunks, without knowing anything about Chunks. So a few months ago I did a few posts on Sharing Saturday ( which you can see here) where I shared some mockups I had been working on for a while.
